The Grill offers a casual and convenient dining experience, along with The Bar, an ideal gathering place for friends and associates.

The Lodge’s signature restaurant, A.R. Valentien, takes its name from a talented early-1900’s California artist whose works in ceramics, watercolors, and oils are now valued collectors items. A.R. Valentien features fresh regional San Diego cuisine served in an elegant, timbered room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. The restaurant’s decor also includes an exhibit of original Valentien artworks.

Craftsman architecture with metal-strap post and beam:


The restaurant itself is a tribute to Southern California heritage and Craftsman architecture, with a metal-strap post-and-beam structure, handcrafted wood-framed windows, stained-glass lanterns and a frieze painted with pine boughs. The layout of the restaurant is also conducive to elegant San Diego fine dining, with several small rooms and plush booths to lend intimacy.

Executive Chef

Jeff Jackson brings more than 30 years experience to The Lodge at Torrey Pines. As the former Executive Chef at Shutters on the Beach and winner of the esteemed USA Bocuse d'Or Culinary Gold Cup, the cooking of A.R. Valentien is market driven and seasonally influenced. The emphasis is placed on the quality and freshness of foodstuffs, which are prepared with the least amount of handling, and cooking methods that benefit the flavors and textures to the fullest.

The Grill & Bar

The Grill offers a casual and convenient San Diego dining experience located adjacent to the practice putting greens and starters club house of the Torrey Pines Golf Course. Whether dining inside or on the patio, you will find a complete menu of your favorite items and beverages. The Bar is the ideal gathering place to end a perfect day on the course with friends and associates.

Culinary Events


The Artisan Table - Thursday Nights


Take the fresh artisan foods and wines from the best local producers in Southern California, add the warmth and comfort of dining with kindred spirits in a lovely and gracious environment, and you have an exciting new experience in San Diego dining. The Lodge at Torrey Pines will offer a communal Artisan Table dinner, by reservation, each Thursday evening on the Terrace at A.R. Valentien, the signature restaurant at The Lodge. In this relaxed, intimate alternative to traditional restaurant dining, guests will enjoy a variety of seasonal dishes in a convivial, less formal setting, with ten to sixteen at the table. The Artisan Table dinner will include a variety of menu items served family-style in four courses: appetizers, main course, cheese, and dessert and coffee, along with wines selected by the chefs to complement each unique meal. The menu will change weekly as seasonal and specialty foodstuffs become available from the premier local producers.

Craft Beer and Food Series

Reception 6:30pm | Dinner 7pm
In celebration of San Diego's reputation for craft beer, The Grill has created a Craft Beer Series. Each event features dishes that are specifically paired with local craft brews. Participating brewers join Chefs Dan Bowling and Kyle Bergman in hosting the events. Past breweries include Lighting, AleSmith and New English. If you cannot catch an event, diners at The Grill can enjoy a prix fixe menu, served daily, paired with beers from our extensive craft beer list.
